This is an old Smoky Mountain fly that has been around for years. I’ve seen several variations on the materials and colors used for this fly over the years. I find it most effective in the late spring when the Sulphurs and Cahills are hatching. Learn More.
Beginner Fly Fishing
Start in March
If you or someone you know is interested in learning to fly fish you or they can get their start here. We have introduced hundreds of people into this facinating sport. Our classes are taught by people who have attended the Joan Wulff Instructor School in New York. Our beginner classes are generally held every other weekend from March through October with a break in August. Class cost is $115 per day which includes lunch. Learn More.
Troutfest will be held May 15th, 16th and 17th 2009 in Townsend, Tennessee at the Visitors Center. Lefty Kreh, Joe Humphreys and Bob Clouser will be the headliners. Read an update.

It began in the 1960's when salmon were stocked in Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. They were introduced to control the booming alewife population. It worked, the fish moved into the tributaries to spawn and a new sport was born. Read more.
