Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 5:45 am, the temperature outside is 29.8 degrees. We have a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning. We may get a little more snow this morning.
Some roads in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are temporarily closed. Highway 441 (Newfound Gap Road) is closed due to snow and ice. Little River road is closed from Sugarlands to the Townsend “Y”. You can see any road closures or openings in the Park, by CLICKING HERE.
Today will be cold, with a high temperature in the upper 30’s. It will be sunny this afternoon. Tonight’s low will dip to 20 degrees or below. Tomorrow will be sunny and warmer, with a high temperature in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.
Little River is flowing at 170 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 1.93 feet on the flow gauge. Median flow for this date is 290 cfs. The water temperature is 41.7 degrees.
Fishing will slow due to the cold water temperatures. The water temps should continue to fall today and tonight. Sunday was a decent fishing day. That is over for now.
I do not see evidence of warmer weather in the long term forecast through February 13th. Unless something drastic changes, don’t expect Spring fishing conditions at mid-month. Sometimes that happens. It doesn’t look like it will this year. Who knows?
We continue to wait.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
