Little River is flowing at 154 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 1.82 feet on the flow gauge. Median flow for this date is 78 cfs. The water temperature is 58.1 degrees this morning.
Fishing may be very good today, if you don’t mind getting wet at times, especially during the morning hours. There is a chance you may encounter higher water. And, water in some streams could be stained. A slight staining of the water could prove to be favorable for fishing.
I would use nymphs today. Today may be perfect for catching a large brown trout, or any trout species for that matter. It is hard to say for sure, but I would go if I didn’t need to work.
Try a Tellico, Prince, Hare’s Ear, Bead Head Pheasant Tail, worm colored San Juan or a Squirmy Worm.
We are not expecting heavy rain today. Fishing tomorrow will probably be very good. The water will be chilly tomorrow morning. The water will warm later in the day.
I am not taking off any days for a while. My “To Do” list is huge. That is normal this time of the year. We have a lot of near gear for you, with many items ready to sell in a few days. November is launch month for some of our manufacturers. Fishpond is one. Their 2019 collection will be available for sale in November, hopefully, early in the month. I have to get all of this stuff on our online store.
The new “Missing Link” of the Foothills Parkway is scheduled to open November 10th, weather permitting. When it snows, the Foothills Parkway is usually closed temporarily.
This sixteen-mile section connects Walland to Wears Valley Road. I have been up there, twice, during the construction process. The design/build team used our classroom for meetings, years ago. I learned a lot by talking to them in our shop.
The views of this valley are incredible. It will connect with the seventeen-mile existing stretch between Chilhowee Lake and Walland. Now, we will have 33 miles of mountain views to enjoy.
From there you can see Townsend. I took some photos from a bridge, and I could see our shop in some of them. Most people see Townsend from ground level. What you will view from the new finished section, will give you a whole new perspective on the beauty of Tuckaleechee Cove. You will notice how little of this valley is inhabited.

Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
