Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. Fly Tyers Weekend is going on again today. We had good crowds at the event. There is some fantastic fly tyers showing their skills.
It is cold in Townsend again this morning. The temperature is warming, but the high will only be 57F today.
Water levels on the Little River have dropped to a fishable level. This morning the gauge is giving a reading of 2.13 feet or 264 c.f.s. This is closer to the daily normal of 119 c.f.s.
Water temperatures have continued to drop over the last few days. This morning the temp is at 46.6F.
Fishing has been slow in the mornings due to cold temperatures. As the sun warms the water fishing will improve. Mid to low elevation streams are fishing well again. You will do best with nymphs sunk deep in the water. There are a lot of leaves out there so you are going to be hooking plenty of them which can be irritating.
Fly Tyers Weekend continues today. The event is free. All you have to do is show up at Tremont Lodge in Townsend. Over 50 fly tyers will be demonstrating for you in shifts, Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd & 3rd. You can learn more about Fly Tyers Weekend by CLICKING HERE.
Parking is up at the Townsend Elementary School. We have rented a vehicle from Mountain Trax here in Townsend. There will be someone driving back and forth from the event to the parking lot to save folks the walk.
Even if you don't tie flies this is a great event to learn about flies and fishing.
Come on out to Fly Tyers Weekend! There is signs along to road pointing you to where to park. Casting For Recovery is selling food as a fund raiser for the annual retreats.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
