From the sample above, we can assume most if not all streams in the Smokies are flowing high and swift. If you go, be careful wading. This is not a good day to be fishing in the Smokies. The streams will recede somewhat today, but the flows will lessen slowly.
The lowland rivers where they exit the Smokies and downstream are flowing high.
The news is not better for wade fishing on the tailwaters. They will be generating all day at most dams in the area. There may be boat fishing options below some dams. There may be wade fishing opportunities below other dams I did not check. See if you can find a tailwater that is fishable for you from the list below. I hope you can. I hope you go.
We could all use a good dose of warm weather and better fishing conditions. The arrival of Spring will be wonderful. That may not be far off, maybe in late February and early March. Judging from the performance in our fly tying department this Winter, there are a whole lot of fresh flies out there, waiting for their day.
Today is Valentines Day. Don’t forget that. Tomorrow is Washington’s birthday or Presidents Day, a national holiday. Banks, government offices and post offices will be closed.
We will be open for you.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
