Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 4:42 am, the temperature is 51.1 degrees.

I checked Little River again and it appears it may be peaking now.
Streams in the Smokies are flowing higher than normal with some flowing higher. It is too early to know for sure how fast the streams will recede. If you plan to fish today, check the gauges before you go. If you decide to go for it, using weighted nymph rigs will be a good strategy.
Lowland rivers flowing out of the mountains are flowing fairly high with some flowing higher. Some of these rivers will be stained especially further downstream. Smallmouth bass fishing was good in the rivers yesterday, thanks to the warm water temperatures. One of our customers showed me a photo of a monster he caught on Little River.
Fishing for stocked trout in the lowland rivers may be good later today after the waters recede. Again, it is too early to tell right now what to expect. Check the gauges and make that call yourself.
There are some tailwater fishing options for you today. TVA and the Corps of Engineers are planning long pauses in the generation at several dams. Check the TVA website to see if your favorite is one of them. Hopefully you can go.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is proposing a new parking fee. Additionally they are proposing an increase in camping fees. According to an article I read this morning, the parking fees would amount to $5 per day, $15 for 7 days and an annual fee of $40. There would be no entrance fee, so people who plan to drive through without parking would not have to pay.
There is a good article about this on the WBIR website. You can read it by CLICKING HERE.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
