Well, we finally got some of the predicted rain yesterday and overnight, and there was no flooding in the Park streams. Streams in the Smokies are at good fishing levels or will be soon. With some rain in the forecast this week, fishing conditions should be good, baring heavy rain, which is not predicted yet.
Trout are taking dry flies and nymphs.
Lowland rivers are flowing higher. There is a chance some may be stained, especially further downstream. Fishing for smallmouth bass, rock bass and panfish will be good today. Use streamers, nymphs, crayfish patterns, poppers or foam floating flies.
Due to overcast skies, this will be a good lake fishing day. Weighted streamers or swimming nymphs will probably work best for you. You might also try poppers or foam floating flies.
There are many tailwater fishing options today. You will need to go early to fish below some dams. Check the TVA website to see what your options are and plan accordingly.
Fishing in the Smokies has improved due to higher water levels. We have been waiting for this. Hopefully, continued rain will sustain good water levels for a while. Cooler days and nights are in our immediate future. It’s time to get excited about Fall fishing.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
