Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 4:46 am, the temperature is 62 degrees.
Showers will linger through late morning and possibly later today with a high temperature in the middle 50’s. Showers will end overnight with a low in the middle 30’s. Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy before clearing later with a high in the upper 40’s and a low in the middle to upper 20’s.
Little River is flowing at 279 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 2.27 feet on the gauge. Median flow for this date is 344 cfs. The water temperature is 47.8 degrees this morning.
Most streams in the mountains are flowing close to normal. Water temperatures are chilly even in the low elevations. If you go fishing today, weighted nymphs or nymph rigs will probably work best.
Fishing for stocked trout in the low elevations will be fair. Sub-surface flies will likely produce best for you. Try nymphs, midge pupa, egg patterns, squirmy worms or small streamers.
Fishing for smallmouth bass in the lowland rivers will be slow due to the cool water temperatures.
TVA and the Corps will be generating today at many dams. Check the predicted flows at Dale Hollow, South Holston and Chatuge dams. You might be able to work with those.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
