Little River is flowing at 225 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 2.14 feet on the gauge. Median flow for this date is 356 cfs. The water temperature is 50.0 degrees. Yesterday, the water temperature rose to 52.3 degrees at the low elevation USGS gauge site near Townsend.
Streams in the mountains are flowing lower than normal and at good fishing levels. The streams are fairly warm in the low elevations.
If you go today, fish in the low elevations where the water is warmer. Trout will be actively feeding. Weighted nymphs and nymph rigs will certainly work. You may catch trout on emergers, wet flies or dry flies. Try a dry and dropper rig.
Fishing for stocked trout in the low elevation rivers is good. Most of these rivers are fairly warm. Trout are active. Sub-surface flies will probably work best. Try weighted nymphs, squirmy worms, egg patterns, caddis emergers, midge pupa or streamers.
Fishing for smallmouth bass or rock bass in the lowland rivers is fair. Nymphs and streamers are good fly choices.
This may not be a good lake fishing day due to the expected breezy conditions.
The TVA website indicates there will be pauses in the generation at several dams today. You have some tailwater fishing option whether you are wading or boating. Visit the TVA website from the links below to see what tailwater fishing options you have.
The Corps of Engineers is looking into the possibility of removing or modifying three dams on Little River. One dam is located in Townsend, one in Walland and another in Rockford. You can read their announcement on the Corps website by CLICKING HERE.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
