Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 4:38 am, the temperature is 44 degrees.

Today will be partly sunny and chilly with a high temperature in the middle to upper 40’s, falling to the upper 20’s tonight.

There is a chance for rain and snow showers tomorrow and through the night. The high temperature will be in the low to middle 40’s with a low in the upper 20’s.

We have a slight chance for rain and snow showers Saturday with a high in the low 40’s.

Little River is flowing at 199 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 1.99 feet on the gauge. Median flow for this date is 296 cfs. The water temperature is 48.2 degrees this morning.

Streams in the Smokies are flowing at levels close to normal this morning. Water temperatures are chilly but warmer in the low elevations. We probably won’t see much warming today. If you go fishing in the Smokies, fish in the low elevations where the water is warmer. Weighted nymph rigs would be my choice.

Fly fishing for stocked trout in the low elevations should be fair to good today. Sub-surface flies should work best. Try nymphs, egg patterns, Squirmy Worms or midge pupa.
