Little River is flowing at 283 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 2.14 feet on the gauge. Median flow for this date is 363 cfs. The water temperature is 44.8 degrees this morning.
Water levels are fine. Water temperatures are not. We need to see the water temperatures rise to around 50 degrees for good fishing conditions. Yesterday, the water temperature in Little River rose to only 46.6 degrees and that was at 5:45 pm. Today will be better. It will be sunny and warmer. Fishing will be best later in the day when the water is warmer. Fish in the low elevations where the water is warmer. Nymphs will probably work best today but be prepared for anything.
Fishing for stocked trout in the low elevations will improve today and tomorrow as the water warms. Fishing will be best late. Weighted nymphs, egg patterns, squirmy worms or other sub surface flies will work.
There are some very interesting generation schedules posted on the TVA website this morning. Tailwater anglers have plenty of opportunities for wading or boating fly fishing. Check out the schedules on the TVA website from the links below to plan your tailwater fishing day.
